Capt. Rebekah studied English/Journalism and Ecology/Geology at Miami University in Oxford, Ohio. After graduating, she moved to the Florida Keys in 1999 to become a reporter, covering numerous environmental issues. She won 13 statewide awards for her reporting, including the Florida Press Association’s Outdoor Writing award for her coverage of lobster mini-season. In 2004, she started her own newspaper, The Upper Keys Times, covering all of the amazing things the keys has to offer, and immersed herself even more with the local beauty of the ocean and ecosystems of our area.
In 2009, Rebekah became a high school teacher, and in 2022 she got her USCG 6-pack captain’s license in order to assist in the start-up of a charter boat business, focusing on ecotours, snorkeling, Keys history, and the natural Florida Keys environment. She absolutely loves sharing our beautiful waters and environment with others!
